BELLINGHAM - People can comment on a $90,000 project to replace the worn playground equipment at Boulevard Park.

The city's Parks and Recreation Department will discuss replacing the playground equipment, installing a new wheelchair ramp in the playground area, and ideas for more seating during a Feb. 13 open house.

The event is 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Maritime Heritage Park Pavilion, 514 W. Holly St. in downtown Bellingham.

The existing playground equipment was installed in 1994. Goals include updating it to meet current public playground safety standards and creating fun, interactive play for children.

Money for the project will come from real estate excise tax funds.
