The All Comer Track Meets are fun for the whole family. On Monday evenings during the summer, we offer track and field events for children and adults of most ages. Note that the 2013 summer season is shortened to 7 meets due to replacement of the synthetic turf at Civic Field. Because of the shortened season, no season passes will be sold for 2013. The top 3 participants in every race and field event will receive a ribbon for first, second and third place. Everyone else will receive a participant ribbon.

Lynden Youth Sports - Boys and Girls Soccer: lyndenyouthsports.com, 360-354-0597.
Ages served: 1st through 10th grade
Deadline for registration for programs starting Aug. 1, 2013: June 27
Cost to participate: $40 participation with a $5 late fee.
The Lynden Youth Sports program is bringing together both boys and girls to play soccer. The practices are set to begin the fourth week of august, with games starting the first week of September. Competition will begin September 1, and final games will run through October 19, with all the games being played on Saturdays at Bender Fields.

Ages served: U6-U13 recreational
Deadline for registration for programs starting Aug. 1, 2013: Registration begins June 1 and lasts until all teams are filled.
Cost to participate: $66 if registered between June 1 and July 31. $77 if registration is after August 1.
Number of games/practices per week: Varies from volunteer coach to volunteer coach. But practices tend to occur Monday-Friday after 5 p.m.
The Whatcom County Youth Soccer Association caters to the entire Whatcom County. The league has 10 teams - Blaine, Ferndale, Meridian, Mt. Baker, Eastside, Lakeside, Lynden, Southside, Nooksack and North side - and each team has children that are along children of the same age. The season usually begins around Labor Day weekend, and it ends sometime near the end of October. Registration places children on the team that is the closest geographically, and parents are encouraged to equip their children with black shorts, black socks, shin guards and cleats.

Ages served: U12-U13

Cost to participate: $130
Number of games/practices per week: One game per week
The Whatcom Development League is a league for both boys and girls ages 11-12 to compete at a higher caliber of competition without having to leave the state of Washington. Children are separated into six teams per division - Boys U11 and U12, and Girls U11 and U12, 13 players per team. The athletes must go through tryouts, and the participants will be notified by mail approximately one week following the final tryout.

Ages served: U-12
Deadline for registration for programs starting Aug. 1, 2013: Registration will be available on the website starting early October.
Cost to participate: $20 at the tryout, and close to $800 upon making the team.
Number of games/practices per week: Practices twice a week, with two, one-day long tournaments a month.
The Ferndale Volleyball Club is the next tier of volleyball for children seeking a higher level of competition than recreational. The club is a member of the Puget Sound Region, so with that the team usually has to travel to the greater Seattle, Tacoma areas to play a majority of its competition. Nevertheless, the program aims to help children advance their level of play, improve upon the fundamentals of volleyball and, of course, have fun. While registration starts at the beginning of October, tryouts then will happen at an early date in November.

Bellingham Bay Swim Team: 360-756-9995.
Ages served: 6 and up
Deadline for registration for programs starting Aug. 1, 2013: Evaluations to join the Prep Squad Group are held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center in Bellingham, Wash. The sessions are always at 4:45 p.m., and they gauge the swimming level of the swimmer.
Cost to participate: Prep Squad 1 & 2: $57.50 a month. Prep Squad 3: $70 a month. Novide - Bronze: $57.50 a month. Novice - Silver: $67.50 a month.
Number of games/practices per week: Fall/Winter seasons have children swim from 7 to 7:45 a.m. on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.
Before being assigned a group, children must first go through an evaluation process to see where their level of swimming is. Children without prior swimming experience or competitive experience will be placed into the prep squad groups, and children who can swim 25 yards of both the free and backstroke are automatically welcomed. Joining the club just takes an email to bbstmembership@gmail.com, to arrange an evaluation time.

Lynden Wrestling Club: lyndenwrestlingclub@gmail.com
Ages served: 4-18
Deadline for registration for programs starting Aug. 1, 2013: Registration will begin in the early parts of September.
Cost to participate: Membership is $25 first child, and $10 for each additional child.
Number of games/practices per week: Tuesday and Thursday. And while the times are still to be determined because practicing works around the schedule of the gym times at Lynden High School, times typically run between 6:45 p.m.-8 p.m.
The Lynden Wrestling Club was started in the hope of offering children as young as four the opportunity to begin wrestling. Anybody is allowed to wrestle, although children do need to be a club member and have a USA Wrestling card. Practice will look to begin following registration in the late parts of September to early November, and run through February, or so. Practices are held at Lynden High School.

Cost to participate: Roughly $40 plus a USA Wrestling Card, singlet's and entry fees for each tournament, which is about $25.
Number of games/practices per week: We practice 2-3 nights a week at Ferndale High School.
Ferndale Force Wrestling aims to give children of all ages the opportunity to compete and challenge themselves as wrestlers. Registration will be formally announced at the parents night, which will be updated and posted on the website, with registration starting sometime in early October. Fliers will be passed out accordingly.

Whatcom County Amateur Hockey Association: whatcomhockey.com, 360-676-1919.
Ages served: Children ages 6 and younger through 18
Deadline for registration for programs starting Aug. 1, 2013:
Cost to participate: $150 non-refundable deposit plus $40 processing fee. A $50 postdated check is required for the jersey deposit. Each player will be given a home and away jersey that must be returned at the conclusion of the season.
The Whatcom County Amateur Hockey Association operates out of the Bellingham Sportsplex, and it offers several leagues - Hockey 1 and 2 (Birth year 2007 & 2008), Hockey 3 and 4 (birth year 2005 & 2006), Atom C (berth year 2003 & 2004), Atom REP (birth year 2003 & 2004), Peewee C (2001 & 2002), Peewee REP (2001 & 2002) Bantam C (1999 & 2000), Bantam REP (1999 & 2000), Midget C (1996, 1997, 1998) and Midget REP (1996, 1997, 1998). All registration fees must be turned in by August 30, and each athlete must first register online with USA Hockey to participate.

North County Grapplers: 360-305-8344.
Ages served: Kindergarten through 12th grade.
Deadline for registration for programs starting Aug. 1, 2013: Registration begins early November and runs through the first three or four months of the season.
Cost to participate: A USA Wrestling Card, as well as a mandatory $35 club fee that pays for a T-Shirt and the end-of-the-year party.
Number of games/practices per week: Three times a week during the season on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in the evenings from usually 6 p.m. 7:30 p.m.
Justin Morgan founded the North County Grapplers with the goal of offering children, and most everyone else, the opportunity to compete in wrestling. Morgan pointed out that the program has no hard-and-fast registration date. Instead, he said that those who want to join, or just show up and see if wrestling is for them, practices and places within the club are open to anyone who is interested. All practices are held at Nooksack Valley High School.

Ages served: 1st and 2nd graders.

The Mount Baker Youth Athletic Association has various football leagues, ranging from youth flag football all the way to senior tackle football. This league is our introductory league for children in the first and second grade. Registration is due by July 2, and any registration beyond that point will be on an as needed basis. Once teams have filled their roster limits, which is usually between 50 and 60 players, then registration will close.

Cost to participate: Last year's U-12 ranged between $375 to $400.
Number of games/practices per week: Two practices a week and one tournament a month.
Tryouts for the Under-12 team will be held in early November. Each participant is being asked to bring with them $10 on the day of the tryout to help cover the gym costs. Also, all participants should have already registered with USA Volleyball. Once that is completed, athletes are being asked to bring the confirmation page from USA Volleyball with them to the tryout.

Youth boxing allows kids to develop confidence, discipline, and self-control with cardio- and strength-building exercise in a positive environment. Mixed martial arts for kids provides a fun, safe and positive environment for children to learn training techniques and skills that include teamwork, discipline and fitness.

Ages served: 9 months to 12 years
Cost to participate: Classes are $14-$16 depending on length. There is a $32 family membership fee due annually. Tuition is typically paid by the month for the number of classes in that month. Siblings receive a $1 discount per class.
Our curriculum is designed to offer students a safe, non-threatening environment where they can progress at their own pace. Each class is age appropriate, so every child feels successful. Our overall goal is to improve self-esteem and self-confidence through exercise. We do this through music, motivation and fun. Children learn that exercise and fun go hand-in-hand.

Out-of-county youth sports activities were removed Aug. 7, 2013.
