ARTS AND SCIENCE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS

Experienced art teacher, Brenda Calvert, teaches 8 kids classes a week, and 1 adult class a week in her Lynden home art studio. Wednesday-Saturday classes meet 3 weeks of every month, using a different art medium each month including, painting, clay, pastels, drawing, scratch art, etc. Tuition per month is $40 for kids and $50 for the adult class. Ballet Bellingham offers ballet classes for dancers of all abilities ages 3 and up. Striving to teach classical ballet in a safe and positive environment, students from beginning to advanced will feel at ease learning to dance at Ballet Bellingham. Our school's curriculum teaches ballet technique in a progressive sequence that is appropriate to each student's ability level. We strive to develop technical proficiency and individual artistry in each of our students.

Bellingham Academy of Music offers private music lessons year-round in piano, guitar, violin/viola, cello, flute and voice. Our teachers are highly qualified professional musicians and teachers. We provide students with recitals and workshops and currently have about 80 students enrolled.

Over 13 years teaching drawing and painting for children, teens and adults. We offer instruction through a range of classes, workshops and weeklong camps. Our instruction reflects a conviction that anyone, at any age, can learn to draw and paint. Learning the basics gives an appreciation for art and world cultures, tools for creativity, problem-solving skills and pride in artistic accomplishments. Drawing is a foundation for visual art and a fundamental way of understanding the world. It's the way to understand what you're looking at. All quality art materials and tools are provided for each class.

The Bellingham Music Club offers free concerts the first Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. from September through June. The club encourages growth and development of music appreciation and performance in the community.

The Playschool at Perch & Play is an enrichment program focused on playful learning. That's because for kiddos, play is serious work! By their very nature children are playful and their play brings them joy which creates a positive learning experience. This approach, using play as the foundation for learning, blended with Reggio Emilia principles, encourages stimulation, challenge and experimentation which further the child's development. Program will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch and healthy snack included each day.

Whatcom Center for Early Learning is a nonprofit agency providing early intervention services to Whatcom County infants and toddlers with developmental delays and their families. For 40 years, the WCEL team of specialists, teachers and families has worked as partners to meet the needs of the children we serve. Parents' choices and expertise are honored and valued in every aspect of the center. We provide in-home therapy for a variety of delays as well as on-site playgroups and sensory and social experiences for both delayed and typically-developing children in our ongoing Sensational Toddlers and Ferndale Toddler Time programs.

The Firs After School Adventure is not daycare, but camp for kids during non-school hours. We offer before and after-school programs as well as all-day adventures for school holidays and teacher work days. We offer transportation to and from participating schools.
